Angola: Provisional bridges for humanitarian assistance

Luanda, 03/14 - The World Food Program (WFP) is officially receiving today a donation of USD 2.2 million from the Swedish government for the construction of emergency provisional bridges in Angola.
This is to facilitate the access to certain areas, so that humanitarian assistance can be given to vulnerable populations throughout the country.

Francisco Roque Castro, director of the WFP in Angola said that, actually, the main problem that humanitarian agencies face in the process of assisting the populations is difficulties in getting access to certain areas.

Meanwhile, the Swedish ambassador to Angola, Roger Gartoft said that he is convinced that "This help comes at an important moment, since a lot of Angolans are displaced, ex-military men and their families are returning to a normal dignified social life in a new Angola, where peace has finally been reached."

ANGOP learned that about 12 to 15 bridges are to be built. (Source: ANGOP)
