Caála, - One hundred and eighty nine people died from January to November in the Municipal Hospital of Caala out of 35,326 malaria reported patients, a local health official said today.

According to Albino Ndumbo there has been a decrease in death figures compared to 266 deads out of the 49,774 cases reported in 2008.

The anti-malaria sensitization campaigns, the free distribution of mosquito nets and anti-malaria tablets and improvement in basic sanitation highly contributed to reduce the mortality rate, the health official said stating that 14,800 mosquito nets were given to pregnant women and under five kids.
