Angola: Malaria claims 25 lives

Namibe, 07/18 - The Clinical director of Ngola Kimbanda provincial hospital, in southern Namibe province, Leonaldo Gonçalves, revealed today that malaria still be regarded as the main factor of death, killing 25 people from the 2,503 patients attended at the hospital, during the first half of this year.

The source added that the hospital attended, in the above mentioned period, about 6,921 patients in the urgency section and external consultations unit, with malaria, acute respiratory diseases, high blood pressure and tuberculosis.

Mr Gonçalves said that malaria corresponded the 31,6 percent of all notified cases. During the same period of last year this pathology had registered 875 cases.
