Sumbe, 02/14 - The NGO Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) handed over on Monday to the Government of the coastal Kwanza-Sul province, 24 hectares of demined land of the Zambia village, Amboim district.
The area will benefit 20,000 families and will be used for agriculture and building of houses.
During the handing over ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Kwanza-Sul, Antonio Tonga, thanked the gesture adding that it will enable the population to build houses and produce essential goods for nourishment.
Quartim Carlos Matongueira, director of APN in Kwanza-Sul, assured that the NGO will continue to demine the most affected areas in the province, in order to enable the free circulation of people and goods.
During the act 61 non detonated explosive devices were destroyed. NPA demined some zones of the districts of Amboim, Ebo, Conda and Kibala.
The NGO also works in the fields of training and aid to community development programmes.
