Angola: Italy to donate USD 9 Mn for social and agricultural sector

Luanda - The Italian ambassador to Angola, Torquato Cardilli, guaranteed on Thursday, in Luanda, that his country will donate, as from the beginning of next year, some equipment amounted at nine million US dollars for health, agriculture and basic sanitation sectors.

The information was given during a press conference, which was used to divulge activities of the VIII Week of the Italian Language and Culture in the World, happening from 21 to 26 October, under the motto "Italian in the market".

According to the diplomat, the health sector will get equipment and instruments for clinical analysis laboratory, while for the area of basic sanitation the Italian government will supply trucks for cleaning and collecting rubbish, to operate in Luanda City.

In agriculture, the ambassador said, the donation will be channelled to the area of zootecnica to guarantee the development of this sector, which deals with researches, control of reproduction, genetic improvement and nutrition of animals that are bred for commercial purposes.

In the past ten years, the Italian government has spent USD 250 million in Angola in various areas, such as education, health, professional training and demining.
