Ondjiva, 10/05 - Angola's Defence minister, Kundi Paihama, said on Friday in Ondjiva, southern Cunene Province that the Defence and Security organs will continue to give their contribution for the improvement of relations between the Republics of Angola and Namibia.
Kundi Paihama said this during the opening ceremony of the Angola/Namibia ministerial meeting, in the ambit of the 14th meeting of the Angola/Namibia Bilateral Joint Commission of Defence and Security, which started on 02 October with the experts meeting.
The minister highlighted the importance of the meeting as it will boost the cooperation ties between the two countries and governments.
On his turn, the Defence minister of Namibia, Charles Namoloh, pledged his country's support to Angola for as long it remains at the head of the Inter-State Committee of Defence and Security of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
To him, the event aims, fundamentally, at searching for solution to the problems affecting the two countries in the Defence and Security sectors, as well as the strengthening of already existing relations in these domains.
Attending the meeting, on the Angolan side are the Defence minister, Kundi Paihama, Vice-ministers of Defence, Gaspar Rufino, of the Interior, Dinho Martins, as well as the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) Chief of Staff, Francisco Pereira Furtado, among other officials of FAA and National Police.
Namibia is being represented by the ministers of Defence, Charles Namoloh, of Interior and Migration, Rosalia Nghidinwa, among other officials of that country's Defence and Security sectors.
The meeting expected to end Friday will analyse and approve the conclusions from the experts meeting, held on 02-04 October, which worked in three sub-commissions, namely on Defence, State Security and Public Security.
The meeting discussed public and state security relating to trans-border crimes, mainly goods trafficking, cattle and car theft, documents forgery, matters of free flow of people and goods across the common border, as well as Angolan refugees in Namibia.
