Angola: Benguela - Agriculture Ministry to reinforce its production

Benguela, 1/8 - Angola's Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry (MINADER) will reinforce agricultural production support in the southwest province of Benguela, under the framework to promote agricultural development in Angola.

It was revealed Wednesday in Benguela by the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Gilberto Buta Lutukuta, just after his arrival at the local airport, ''17 de Fevereiro''.

According to the minister, agricultural production support represents fundamentally in development of cultivable land, essential condition for the productive process.

In this way, he guaranteed that the reactivation of banana production will be launched in way to benefit the capacity of Vale do Cavaco (Cavaco Valley), from citrus fruits, coffee and cotton, in the municipalities of Benguela province.

Mr Gilberto Lutukuta, assured that there are in the central highlands about 200 hectares of developed lands for maize seeds' productions, expecting to implement, in future, the same program in the coastal regions of the country.

According to the minister, MINADER will also contribute to the removal of alluvium in Cavaco, Catumbela and Caporolo rivers, where floods have provoked the inundation of farming areas, the destruction of houses, among others.

During two days, the minister will also review the situation of demobilized soldiers, in the ambit of productive and social reintegration process.

Along with the responsibilities of the organs of the MINADER, Mr. Gilberto Lutukuta, will leave Wednesday for Dombe Grande commune, in Baia Farta municipality, as well as visit Cavaco's agriculture perimeters. (Source: ANGOP)
