Description

According to ARC field reports, on August 9, 2024, wildfires erupted across various regions within the province of Tizi Ouzou, Algeria, causing extensive damage to agricultural fields, trees, and forests. The fires initially broke out around 11:00 AM in the daïra of Beni Douala and quickly spread to the neighboring daïra of Larbaa Nath Irathen (LNI). Despite initial efforts to contain the flames, the fires continued to spread, ultimately ravaging a vast number of hectares, including both agricultural lands and forests.

On the following day, August 10, 2024, the fires reignited in the same daïras around 12:15 PM, resulting in a massive propagation across the region. The material damages were substantial: several hectares of vegetation, including olive groves and various fruit trees, were destroyed. Additionally, three (03) chicken coops, housing approximately 10,000 chicks, were incinerated, and a Toyota Hilux vehicle, along with multiple homes, sustained significant damage.
