Seventeen Afghan policewomen have been awarded their diplomas. At the presentation ceremony on 28 December, General Mohammed Ayub Salangi, the chief of police in Kabul, repeatedly underlined the importance to the national police of training more women officers. He also talked about the Dutch police training mission in Afghanistan.

There was considerable interest in the award ceremony. It was attended by various staff members from the Dutch embassy in Kabul, around 100 policewomen, various members of the Afghan media and representatives of the international community (including EUPOL and the NATO training mission).
