Pakistan: This week a new wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) case is reported. The male case is 18 months of age from Lakkimarwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, with date of onset 20th June 2022.

In 2022 to date, 14 WPV1 cases have been reported (1 from Afghanistan and 13 from Pakistan)

No cVDPV isolates reported this week from human or environment

United States of America: One new VDPV2 case is reported this week from New York City. This case is not linked to any known VDPV2 virus. Further investigations are in progress.
