Afghan President Hamid Karzai and NATO both condemned Wednesday's attack in Asmar district.

Elsewhere in eastern Afghanistan Wednesday, NATO says one of its service members was killed in a bomb attack. The coalition gave no other details.

In Logar province, Afghan officials say a roadside bomb ripped through a tractor, killing one person.

Another roadside bomb in Wardak province killed a security guard.

And in Paktika province, the interior ministry says two children were killed Wednesday when an old rocket shell exploded.
