MOHAMMAD SALEEM'S JOURNEY: FROM DESPAIR TO STABILITY
Mohammad Saleem, son of Mohammad Khan, is a 67-year-old resident of Shorabak-e-Balocha village in Injil district, Herat. He has two sons - Mohammad Khan (16 years old) and Mohammad Asif (14 years old). Their primary source of income is livestock farming, which provides only enough to cover daily living expenses.
In 2023, when a devastating earthquake struck Herat, Mohammad Saleem's house was completely destroyed. Without the financial means to rebuild his home and with no external support, he was forced to live in a tent for nearly a year.
Recognizing the urgent need for shelter in the affected areas, the ADRA Afghanistan team conducted a survey in Shorabak-e-Balocha village. Mohammad Saleem was identified as a deserving beneficiary, and the team constructed a standard two-room shelter for him, ensuring that he and his family had a safe place to live.
Expressing his gratitude, Mohammad Saleem stated: "I am very thankful to the ADRA Afghanistan team for identifying me as someone in need of shelter and building a proper shelter for me."
