  1. Malaysia commends the UN, as well as the governments of Germany, Qatar and the UK for organising this event, to continue to highlight the dire humanitarian situation faced by the Afghan people.

  2. As a fellow OIC member and in solidarity with the Afghan people during their time of need, Malaysia is committed to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

  3. Among others, Malaysia contributed USD100,000 during the UN High-Level Pledging Event in September last year. Just last month, Malaysian NGOs, in close collaboration with the Government, delivered 5 tonnes of essential items, totalling USD240,000 for the Afghan people.

  4. Recently, we also pledged USD100,000 to the OIC Humanitarian Trust Fund, and we are currently arranging to donate 1.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Afghanistan. Malaysia will also continue to provide capacity-building programmes to Afghanistan in various technical and vocational fields.

  5. I wish to reaffirm Malaysia’s solidarity with the Afghan people and we stand ready to assist them towards attaining durable peace and security, the enjoyment of human rights, especially for women and girls, as well as socio-economic development.

Thank you
