Situation Report on Floods in Afghanistan Issue Number 01 - 1 August 2010

Summary

As of 30 July 2010, heavy rains, resulting in flash floods, have affected several areas in the country, most significantly in the Central and Eastern Regions. According to the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA), approximately, 3,831 households were reported to have been affected in the Eastern Region. As for the Central Region assessments are on-going, hence information gaps with regards to the impacts from the flooding still persist.

Casualty figures for the Eastern Region have been estimated at 16 deaths. Flood impacts, humanitarian needs, response and gaps in the East are summarized in the table below;
