The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of Operational Plan of the water supply and sanitation was signed today in Kabul between the Ministries of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Education, Public Health and UNICEF.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Minister Nasir Ahmad Durrani by the Deputy Ministers of above-mentioned Ministries.
Attending the signing ceremony, the chairperson of UNICEF said that as per the MoU $ 24.5 million will be given to the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development. He hoped that the above mentioned fund will help the MRRD to implement projects in the areas of water supply, sanitation and hygiene education facilities, in close cooperation with the Ministries mentioned above in the provinces of Kabul, Balkh, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Herat, Helmand, Zabul, Bamyan, Daykundi, Paktika, Paktia, Laghman, Jawzjan and Sar-e-pul.
Addressing at the signing ceremony, Minister Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development commended UNICEF's activities and more focused on coordination for the implementation of water supply, sanitation and hygiene education projects.
