Return from Iran

According to the Border Monitoring Team of the Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation (DoRR), a total of 10,907 undocumented Afghans spontaneously returned or were deported from Iran through the Milak (Nimroz) and Herat (Islam Qala) border crossings between 20—26 October 2019, a 42% increase from the previous week (7,685). 4,738 persons returned voluntarily and 6,169 were deported. This brings the total number of undocumented returnees from Iran to 385,767 in 2019. IOM provided post-arrival humanitarian assistance to 436 (4%) undocumented Afghans deported from Iran at its Transit Centers in Herat, including 70 Unaccompanied Migrant Children, 56 Medical Cases, 55 members of Single Parent Families, 7 Physically Disabled persons, 15 Unaccompanied Elderly persons, 3 Single Females, 66 members of deported families, 144 member of poor families and 50 persons with substance abuse concerns.
