Highlights

Return from Iran

According to the Border Monitoring Team of the Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation (DoRR), a total of 7,685 undocumented Afghans spontaneously returned or were deported from Iran through the Milak (Nimroz) and Herat (Islam Qala) border crossings between 13—19 October 2019, with a 34% decrease from the previous week (11,653). 2,916 persons returned voluntarily and 4,769 were deported. This brings the total number of undocumented returnees from Iran to 374,860 in 2019. IOM provided post-arrival humanitarian assistance to 325 (4%) undocumented Afghans deported from Iran at its Transit Centers in Herat, including 38 Unaccompanied Migrant Children, 8 Medical Cases, 32 members of Single Parent Families, 3 Physically Disabled persons, 11 Unaccompanied Elderly persons, 1 Single Female, 137 members of deported families, and 8 persons with substance abuse concerns.
