President Hamid Karzai is deeply grieved by the losses in both life and property caused by the recent floods that have hit the provinces of Faryab, Saripul, Badghis and Jauzjan.
The President has ordered the relevant entities to provide immediate assistance to the people affected by the natural disaster.
Since yesterday, rain flooding has hit four provinces leaving a number of people dead and some missing with thousands of acres of agricultural land, orchards and dozen homes and livestock destroyed and lost.
President Karzai spoke with the Second Vice-president on an emergency meeting of the National Committee of Disaster Management for urgent assistance to the affected people. It was decided that the Second Vice President travel to the affected provinces.
President Karzai has been closely following this issue and has instructed the provincial governors and the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) to commit all resources available to reach out the people affected.
The President offers his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims and wishes rapid recovery for those wounded.
