NetAid channels humanitarian aid to Afghan refugees

New York, NY - NetAid is channeling donations to two humanitarian agencies with extensive experience of working with Afghan refugees in Northwest Pakistan. Both agencies have stepped up their operations to respond to the latest humanitarian crisis to strike the people of Afghanistan and have partnered with NetAid to provide the public with an opportunity to get involved.
"NetAid offers a direct channel for the global public to help," says NetAid's President David Morrison. "It links concerned people directly to trusted, effective nongovernmental humanitarian aid organizations on the frontlines." 100% of funds donated by the public go to the projects on the ground and regular updates are provided on www.netaid.org so that people can see how their money is being used.

The International Medical Corps (IMC) was founded in 1984 by volunteer American doctors who went to Afghanistan to provide emergency care and training to civilians. Since then, the IMC has helped to train a new generation of Afghan doctors, nurses and other health care professionals. Led by a dedicated Harvard-trained Afghan doctor, the team has been one of the few groups that has provided medical services to people living in refugee camps in northwest Pakistan, as well in Afghanistan itself.

The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) opened its office in Pakistan three years ago to work with refugees with special needs, including unaccompanied children, the elderly, the disabled and female-headed households. On October 6, 2001, ICMC sent an emergency response team to Pakistan to begin to assess the urgent needs of the most vulnerable Afghan refugees and to provide specialized medicines and equipment, shelter and supplemental food.
