In the first week of February 2013, heavy rain and snowfall across the country caused considerable damage, leaving 10 people dead and hundreds of houses destroyed. More than 1,200 families are displaced. Areas in the Central and Western Regions are among the worst hit.
In most of the affected areas, assessments are ongoing. Initial assessments highlight needs in the sectors of emergency shelter, food and NFIs. The response is being coordinated through the PDMCs with strong support from OCHA. In the west some villages cannot be accessed for needs assessment or delivery due to insecurity
