MASHHAD, 31 October 2023 (IRCS) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society sent a relief consignment to Afghanistan to support the quake-affected households in Herat.
On Monday, October 30, a delivery of goods was transported to Afghanistan using eleven trucks from the Dowqarun border crossing in Khorasan Razavi Province. This is the sixth consignment that was dispatched to Herat province.
The assistance amounts to 250 tons and consists of food parcels, edible oil, canned food, blankets, personal hygiene products, carpets, and cleaning supplies.
According to Mohsen Zakeriyan, the Managing Director of the Khorasan Razavi Red Crescent provincial branch, the Iranian Red Crescent Society has already dispatched over 1,000 tons of assistance to Afghanistan.
On October 7, 2023, Herat Province in western Afghanistan was hit by four powerful earthquakes, each measuring 6.3 magnitude. These tremors resulted in the loss of over 2,000 lives.
