PUL-I-KUMRI, Afghanistan -- Hungarian forces have nearly completed a project in Pul-i-Kumri, the capital of Baghlan Province, that will provide clean drinking water to nearly 2,000 Afghans.
The year long project in the Radar Hill district of Pul-i-Kumri included digging wells, putting in water pipes and building a reservoir.
Work on the water system should be completed next spring and is part of a broader effort to provide needed development and humanitarian assistance to Afghans in the area.
Hungary has 360 troops supporting the 44-nation NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan and has led the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Baghlan since 2006.
