Context

The following Assessment Report Covers a Caseload of the Most Vulnerable families from the Shirzad district of Nangarhar province. The most vulnerable, poorest, and marginality had a bad impact on these people. Because their life started they have not received any assistance regarding WASH issues and most of them are not familiar with Hygiene, sanitation issues, and Hygiene items, Most of these families were affected by the last fight in this district; mostly they have lost at least one member from their families or have disabled and widows, the listed families especially the widows and disabled are the first heads of their household, According to our plan, the WASH assessment was conducted from 29 Oct up to 5 Nov 2023, with the involvement of DACAAR, district representatives, and local community elders. The Joint Needs Assessment (JNA) teams found 39 families as eligible beneficiaries and recommended them for wash assistance. According to HEAT Database, the average family size of 60 families is 8 persons per family, the selected families are widows, disabled, oldest, and excluded families which are living in their own old houses; some of them are partially damaged due to the last war in their original places and locality, the selected families are also Jobless people who are unable to meet their basic needs, all of them need for wash assistance, fortunately, they have access to the existing public clinics and hospitals but due to poverty, they are not able to afford medication cost in case of any severe sickness and during the assessment, no proper household items were seen around them thus, they are suffering due to lack of food, NFIs, WASH and other supplementary items. Therefore, the assessment team recommended them for Humanitarian assistance.
