FACTBOX - Security developments in Afghanistan, Dec 26

Dec 26 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1710 GMT on Saturday:

MAIDAN WARDAK - Afghan and international forces killed a Taliban commander responsible for planning attacks against them, in Nerkh district of Maidan Wardak province, southwest of Kabul, the NATO-led force said.

SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - A U.S. service member was killed by a roadside bomb in the south of the country on Friday, the NATO-led force said.

KABUL - A rocket landed inside the Afghan Defence Ministry in the heart of the capital, Kabul, but caused no casualties and no damage to any buildings, defence ministry spokesman General Zaher Azimy said.
