Key Figures on Inflows:

  • A total of 40,902 individuals entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala, Milak, and Abu Nasr Farahi border crossing points with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The main reason for entering Afghanistan from the Islamic Republic of Iran was deportation (53%).
  • A total of 28,219 individuals entered Afghanistan through the Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Pathan, Angor Ada, Spin Boldak, Baramcha, and Nazar Posta border crossing points with Pakistan. The main reason for entering Afghanistan from Pakistan was return (voluntary/spontaneous) (61%).

Key Figures on Outflows:

  • A total of 23,480 individuals left Afghanistan through the Islam Qala, Milak, and Abu Nasr Farahi border crossing points with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The main reason for travelling to the Islamic Republic of Iran was economic reasons (62%).
  • An additional 31,181 individuals left Afghanistan through the Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Pathan, Angor Ada, Spin Boldak, Baramcha, and Nazar Posta border crossing points with Pakistan. The main reason for travelling to Pakistan was health reasons (68%).
