HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK

• During this reporting period, inflow movements (71,920) were 30 per cent larger than outflow movements (53,239).

• Compared to last week, this week’s inflow movements increased by almost four per cent, while on the other hand outflow movements decreased by 10 per cent.

• Among all border crossing points the ratio of inflows to outflows was highest at the Islam Qala border crossing point (bordering the Islamic Republic of Iran), where inflows were over 65% larger than outflows, this is the first time since beginning of 2024 that difference between inflows and out flows is more than 50 per cent in this border crossing point. Based on flow monitoring survey results, the primary reason for inflows at the Islam Qala border crossing point was economic reasons (55%), followed by return voluntary/ spontaneous (47%), and deportation (43%).

• During this reporting period, a total of 18,809 male individuals entered Afghanistan from Pakistan, accounting for 63 per cent of the total inflow at that border, while female individuals accounted for 27 per cent, or 6,127 individuals.

• This is the first time since the beginning of 2025 that outflow movements to the Islamic republic of Iran has seen a big decrease, compared to the last five weeks, this week the outflow movement decreased by 30 per cent.

• During this reporting period a third 34% of inflow movements from the Islamic Republic of Iran (14,170 individuals) were identified as undocumented returnees, of which 45% (6,331 individuals) were assisted by IOM.
