SUMMARY:

  • This report includes surveillance data from 26th January to 1 st February 2013.

  • Out of 338 functional Sentinel sites(SS), all 337 (99.8%) have sent their reports in Week-05 of 2013;

  • Out of total 339,015 Consultations (148979 Male, 190040 Female) recorded in week-05 of 2013, 128,258 (625343Males, 65724 Females) consultations were reported due to DEWS target diseases.

  • Main causes of consultations this week are Acute Respiratory Infections/ARI (32.4%) and Acute Diarrheal Diseases/ADD (4.7%) from total clients in a continuing trend from the week before.

  • 83 deaths caused due to Pneumonia, Diarrheal diseases and Meningitis/Severely ill children, so that 66 (33 Male, 33 Female) deaths due to pneumonia, 1 (1 Male, 0 Female) deaths due to diarrheal diseases and 16(12 Male, 4 Female) deaths reported due to Meningitis and Severely Ill Children.

  • In this reporting week, one suspected Chicken pox outbreak was reported from Shortapa district of Balkh province, one ARI outbreak in several points of Bamyan city of Bamyan province was reported in the reporting week.
