DAILY NEWS BULLETIN 18.02.2003
In relation to the appearance in a number of foreign media of reports about the Russian Federation's direct interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, citing a $40 million dollars contract supposedly concluded between Russia and Afghanistan for the supply of military transport and combat helicopters, and spare parts, fuel and lubricants for them, the Russian MOD press service declares that this does not correspond to reality.
In December 2002 a contract was signed by the Defense Ministries of Russia and Afghanistan for rendering the Afghan side military-technical assistance with supplies of motor vehicles, fuel and lubricants, means of communications, topographic maps, truck-mounted repair workshops and of automobile and armor equipment spare parts on a gratuitous basis.
