COUNTRIES WITH HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE PLANS
AFGHANISTAN (HRP)
Afghanistan is experiencing the residual impacts of decades of conflict, years of drought conditions, chronic and continued poverty, and natural disasters. In the latter part of 2023, regional developments triggered the return of thousands of undocumented Afghans and refugees from Pakistan, which is expected to continue in 2024. Nearly half the population live in poverty, with fragile economic conditions expected to continue compounding the acute food insecurity of approximately 15.8 million people in crisis and emergency levels of food insecurity. Humanitarian partners are targeting 17.3 million people with humanitarian assistance out of 23.7 million people in need.
AFGHANISTAN (RRRP)
More than 8.2 million Afghan refugees and Afghans of other statuses are hosted by countries neighbouring Afghanistan, especially Iran and Pakistan.
Humanitarian partners are targeting 7.3 million people with humanitarian aid – 100 per cent of the identified people in need.
MONGOLIA (HCRP)
The Dzud Response Plan was launched to assist vulnerable herder and other families with humanitarian assistance to address their immediate needs, restore their livelihoods and mitigate the impacts of dzud. Humanitarian partners are targeting around 76,700 people out of some 200,000 people in need.
MYANMAR (HRP)
People in Myanmar continue to face an unprecedented political, human rights and humanitarian crisis that is posing grave protection risks for civilians, limiting access to vital services including healthcare, safe water and education, and driving deep food insecurity. Humanitarian partners are targeting 5.3 million people with humanitarian assistance out of 18.6 million people in need.
BANGLADESH (JRP)
Over 960,000 Rohingya refugees are being temporarily sheltered in Bangladesh and rely entirely on humanitarian aid. Humanitarian partners are targeting 1.4 million people with humanitarian assistance out of 1.6 million Rohingya refugees and host community members in need
BANGLADESH (HCRP)
Close to 13 million people across 30 percent of the country have been affected by three subsequent climate emergencies this year in Bangladesh. Cyclone Remal and the subsequent devastating floods in the North-Eastern regions of Bangladesh have affected more than 8.3 million people. One and a half million people displaced from their homes and 237,673 houses have been destroyed. Humanitarian partners are targeting 2.5 million people with humanitarian assistance out of 6.4 million people in need
VIET NAM (HCRP)
Typhoon Yagi affected 3.6 million people in nearly half (26) of Viet Nam’s 63 provinces, exacerbating vulnerabilities in communities already at risk from climate-related disasters. The joint response plan focuses on the 11 northern mountainous provinces, where 1.6 million people were affected. Humanitarian partners are targeting 300,000 people with humanitarian assistance out of 570,000 people in need.
NEPAL (HCRP)
The floods and landslides have caused widespread devastation across Nepal, with the worst impacts felt in eighteen districts. These events have worsened existing vulnerabilities, especially among communities with limited resources, displacing over 10,000 households and severely damaging infrastructures.
Humanitarian partners are targeting 192,000 people with humanitarian assistance.
PHILLIPPINES (HCRP)
Beginning in late October, six consecutive cyclones, in a period of only five weeks, affected over 13 million people across the country. Humanitarian partners are targeting 535,500 people with humanitarian assistance out of 2.6 million people in need.
