April 26th , 2025 ― Doha, Qatar: Over the coming few weeks, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is planning to implement a series of humanitarian program at a total cost of more than QR 30 million, for the benefit of over 541,000 people in Gaza, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Mauritania, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Niger, revealed Faisal Mohamed Al-Emadi, Secretary-General of QRCS.
In a statement, he described the Ramadan Campaign “Fruitful Giving” 2025/1446 AH as an “outright success”, thanks to the generous donations from the people of Qatar, which helped meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of vulnerable and disadvantaged people around the world during the holy month of Ramadan.
“At all times, the people of Qatar show a spirit of inherent benevolence and noble inclination,” said Mr. Al-Emadi. “Their sense of compassion and humanitarian responsibility is particularly manifested during emergencies, providing assistance for the victims of conflicts, disasters, and poverty everywhere through their zakat and sadaqah payments made for the sake of Allah”.
Under the Ramadan Iftar project, Qatari food aid was delivered to 761,741 people, a 29.2% jump from the campaign’s target of 538,688. He added, “With the food parcels, meals, and coupons distributed, the Ramadan Iftar project effectively satisfied the food needs of more than 147,000 families in 16 countries, as follows: Palestine (Gaza and the West Bank), Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Mauritania, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Chad, Djibouti, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Niger”.
Locally, 2,275 families, or 11,375 persons, received seasonal aid during the holy month of Ramadan, including food coupons for 1,606 families, or 8,030 persons, and Zakat Al-Fitr for 669 families, or 3,345 persons. Also, QRCS implemented a project to distribute 48,070 Iftar meals as inkind donations from various organizations and companies, held a Garangao celebration carnival for 200 hospitalized children, and distributed 800 packed Iftar meals to patients, parents, and medical professionals at hospitals.
Mr. Al-Emadi commented, “All these achievements were possible only with the exceptional response from the public, government organizations, and businesses. They never fail to lend a hand, and they constantly donate to our humanitarian and development projects, both during Ramadan and throughout the year”.
He considered this engagement as a testimony to trust in QRCS both locally and internationally, building on a long history of excellence, proficiency, and dedication to the humanitarian mission.
“I would like to send a message of gratitude to everyone who contributed even the least to the food provisions given to refugees and displaced people, helping them observe the ritual of fasting and alleviating some of their suffering. But the journey of giving has no end, and their remains a long way to go and considerable needs to fulfil,” Mr. Al-Emadi concluded.

About Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS)
Established in 1978, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is Qatar’s first humanitarian and volunteering organization that aims to assist and empower vulnerable individuals and communities without partiality or discrimination.
QRCS is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which consists of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and 191 National Societies. It is also a member of several GCC, Arab, and Islamic organizations, such as the Islamic Committee of International Crescent (ICIC) and the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO). In this legally recognized capacity, QRCS has access to disaster and conflict zones, thus serving as an auxiliary to the State of Qatar in its humanitarian and social efforts — a role that distinguishes it from other local charities and NGOs.
Both locally and internationally, QRCS has relief and development operations in numerous countries throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Central and South America. Its humanitarian mandates include disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and risk reduction. To mitigate the impact of disasters and improve the livelihoods of affected populations, QRCS provides medical services, food, water, shelter, and other needs of local communities. It is also active at the humanitarian diplomacy and advocacy front.
With the help of a vast network of trained, committed staff and volunteers, QRCS aspires to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity, inspired by the seven Fundamental Principles of humanitarian action: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality
