4 February -- The United Nations'
Children's Fund (UNICEF) has confirmed reports of a break-in and robbery
at one of its offices in Afghanistan.
According to a spokesman in New York,
one of the agency's offices in Kabul was broken into Monday night. The
area was sealed off for evidence collection by Afghan police right after
the incident was reported, and there is a joint investigation underway
with UN security.
"No one was hurt in the incident," the spokesman said. "We understand that some cash was taken from the office during the break-in, but we have no information as to the amount." The ongoing investigation should determine exactly what was taken.
