SITUATION UPDATE

A total of 190 080 individuals through four key border crossing points from Iran and Pakistan returned to Afghanistan between 01-26 April 2025. Out of the total returnees, 57% are from Iran and 43% are from Pakistan.

The highest number of returnees (75 809) entered via the Torkham crossing point, while the lowest number of returnees (32 436) entered through Spin Boldak crossing point.

WHO is continuously reinforcing its emergency border response activities and has further enhanced monitoring and supportive supervision through regional teams.

It provided technical guidance to partners in highlighting the health needs and emergency response for returnees. As convenor for health sector, the Organization shaped the health chapter for Border Response and Reintegration Response In Areas Of Return integrated appeal. Additionally, technical support was provided to the partners on inclusion of health response activities in the border consortium fund appeal.
