Afghanistan: Press Release from the Electoral Complaints Commission, 12 Jan 2010

The Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) announces that it has completed all its investigations and rendered decisions of all electoral complaints that were received before, during, and after election-day to the IEC.

The ECC officially notified the Independent Election Commission (IEC) about the 2completion of the investigation process, and accordingly submitted its final decisions to the IEC on 16 December 2009. It should be noted that according to Article 52(6) of the Election Law, "All decisions of the ECC shall be final".

All ECC decisions have been posted on its website ( www.ecc.org.af ) for public use and to ensure transparency of the process. All complainants as well as Provincial Council candidates and their agents are invited to precisely review the ECC decisions affecting the election in their province.

The process to receive further electoral complaints is legally over, however, should candidates find any discrepancy between the ECC final decisions and the final certified results announced by the IEC they should bring this to the immediate attention of the IEC for proper resolution.
