Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are still affecting Pakistan and Afghanistan, leading to severe weather-related incidents, casualties and damages.

As of 17 April, media report 62 fatalities in Pakistan across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Baluchistan Provinces. In addition, 37 were injured and 1,026 damaged houses have been reported.

A state of emergency has been declared for the country. On 15 April, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa published an emergency declaration.

In Afghanistan, authorities report at least 50 fatalities, 36 injured people, more than 23,000 affected people and 706 destroyed houses across 20 Provinces.

For the next 24 hours, more rainfall, with locally heavy rainfall, is expected in most parts of the two countries. Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority alert that a spell of rain, wind and thunderstorms will engulf most parts of Pakistan from 16-22 April.
