Afghanistan, Pakistan - Severe weather and floods, update (media, NDMA Pakistan, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 18 April 2024)

  • Following the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms that are still affecting Pakistan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Provinces) and Afghanistan, the death toll has increased.

  • As of 18 April, media reports in Pakistan 71 fatalities and 67 injured people, the most affected is the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province with 32 fatalities and 41 injured people and more than 2,600 damaged houses.

  • In Afghanistan, media reports at least 70 fatalities, 56 injured people and more than 2,600 damaged houses across 20 Provinces. More than 2,000 livestock and 95,000 acres of agricultural are lost.

  • For the next 24 hours, more rainfall, with locally heavy rainfall and strong winds, is expected in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
