Afghanistan: Islamic Development Bank & IRCS co-operate in humanitarian work

In partnership with the Islamic Development Bank, the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRCS) provided a relief consignment weighting 81 tons with a total value of about $ 200,000 for the needy people of Afghanistan, which was distributed amongst the needy families in Nimrouz province during January and February 2003.
The Islamic Development Bank allocated $ 200,000 to assist vulnerable people of Afghanistan and the IRCS was responsible for the provision of items and sending the consignment for the vulnerable people of Nimrouz province in Afghanistan. The donation was distributed amongst the people living in deprived areas of Afghanistan in front of the Iranian Red Crescent representatives.

Mr. Haj Abdul Karim Barahouei, Governor of Nimrouz province by sending an appreciation letter thanked the President and officials of the IRCS. The letter notes,

"Dear Dr Noorbala,

I would like to declare that the Iranian Red Crescent relief team in the course of its mission has distributed some 6,764 packages amongst the needy people of Nimrouz province. We really appreciate the efforts of our Iranian brothers and wish them blessings of God Almighty. May Allah desire so..."
