Release # 2007-356
KABUL, Afghanistan - International Security Assistance Force troops executed a deliberate operation to seize a weapons cache in Kabul province recently.
The operation yielded a large weapons cache containing 30 107-millimeter rockets.
That size rocket has a range of about six kilometres and carries three pounds of explosives. They are not very accurate, and are normally aimed at large areas like a village.
"Such rockets can also be used in improvised explosive devices," said Lt. Col. Roy Lane, ISAF Counter-IED chief of operations.
"The success of this operation demonstrates ISAF's resolve to deny the insurgents the ability to pose threats against the Government of Afghanistan," said Lt. Col. Maria Carl, ISAF spokesperson.
