Key updates:
During the reporting period, the National WASH Cluster conducted a field mission to Nangarhar and Kunar provinces (22–26 February 2026) to monitor earthquake response in displacement sites, verify WASH service delivery, and strengthen coordination with partners and affected communities. Observations confirmed functioning water supply systems and ongoing hygiene promotion activities, while sanitation gaps remain in some sites, requiring continued behaviour-change interventions.
The cluster maintained close engagement with MRRD, including participation in the WSG meeng on 1 February, where MoU-related issues were discussed and guidance provided.
In the Eastern Region, partners continued responding to earthquake-affected populations and returnees through provision of water supply, sanitation services, hygiene promotion, and distribution of essential WASH supplies in camps and host communities. At the same time, partners across the Central, Northern, and Southeast regions implemented water system rehabilitation, sanitation improvements, and hygiene promotion activities, while supporting AWD preparedness and responding to emerging displacement linked to border tensions.
Overall, 160,498 individuals were reached with WASH services during the reporting period.
