The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) remains one of the challenging development issues in Afghanistan. Limited access and poor services to WASH means a significant burden of poor health, nutrition, education and protection for children and women. The Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP 2019) has envisaged a need for reaching 1.3 million people with WASH services in 2019. The Cluster partners have successfully reached 1,057,371 people by the end of September 2019 with over 25 million USD funding commitment including 10.87 million carry over from 2018. There has been a good progress in reaching the overall HRP targets except for sanitation. This needs further attention and priority in coming period.
