Incidents Update:
During the reporting period four natural disaster incidents were reported.
Central Region:
Kabul Province: As per initial information from ANDMA and CDC, approximately 35 families were reportedly affected as a result of flood in Surobi district, Tapa Khan Village. The joint assessment team (IOM, ANDMA, WFP/AREA) initiated an assessment on the 10th of April.
Logar Province: As per initial information from IRC, 30 families were reportedly affected by flooding in Baraki Barak (Shah Mazar Now Abad village) and Pule Alam (Altemor) on the 24th of March. IOM, ANDMA and IRC conducted the assessment on the 27th of March and verified 31 families in need of NFIs. IOM and IRC assisted the families with the provision of household and latrine kits on the 6 th of April.
In separate incident as per initial information received through different sources, due to flooding in seven villages of Kharwar district, Logar province on the 31st of March, 130 families were reported affected. IOM, IRC, WFP/AREA and ANDMA met with local representatives and village elders of Kharwar district on the 8th of April to verify received information. After discussions the representative and village elders of the reported affected villages confirmed flooding in different villages of Kharwar district but as per the information from the village elders there were no damages to their houses, only 3 Jerib of agricultural land were affected. The information from village elders indicated that the initial report of 130 families being affected by flood was inaccurate, thus the caseload was closed.
