HIGHLIGHTS

46 Health Cluster partners reached 677,394 people with humanitarian health services through 816 health facilities in 298 districts of all 34 provinces.

Between 10-25 May 2024, the reported Health Cluster partners provided health services to a total of 38,462 flood-affected people in Baghlan (16,064), Badakhshan (7,880), Ghor (6,804),
Takhar (5,912), Faryab (1,577), Badghis (177) and Jawzjan (48) provinces. The beneficiaries included 14,327 women, 8,301 men, 9,539 girls, and 6,295 boys. Out of the total beneficiaries, 24,806 individuals received primary health care consultations, 9,192 were reached with health promotion activities, 2,578 received Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services, 1,516 received maternal, newborn, and child health services, and 370 received trauma care service.

Between 1 November 2023 and 29 May 2024, the Health Cluster partners provided health services to 496,958 (265,398 female, 231,560 male) returnees. This includes 239,058 primary healthcare consultations, 166,664 reached with health promotion activities, 20,494 receiving secondary health care services, 38,810 provided with mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, 31,074 provided with maternal, newborn and child health services, and 858 receiving trauma care.

Among all age groups, the primary causes of morbidity were acute respiratory infections (ARI) and acute diarrheal disease, representing 31.6 per cent of total consultations.

As of 31 May 2024, since the onset of the outbreak in February 2020, 238,200 COVID-19 cases with a total of 8,008 deaths were reported from 34 provinces.

In May 2024, a total of 6,788 new suspected measles cases were reported, resulting in 26 deaths. This shows 6.7 per cent decrease in the number of cases compared to the previous month. In 2024, a total of 28,631 measles suspected cases with 126 associated deaths were reported.

Monitoring visit from health service delivery to the flood affected people in Faryab province – Credit RHCC for the Northeastern Region WHO has provided a total of 640 emergency medical kits to 109 health facilities in eight provinces which will benefit around 1 million individuals in the next three months.
