In the month of February, 50 Health Cluster partners reached 670,513 people with humanitarian health services through 829 health facilities in 293 districts of all 34 provinces, This number is a reduction compared to 872,560 people reached with humanitarian health services in January 2025.
In February 2025, a total of 28,139 returnees were reached, including 7,031 women, 16,193 men, 2,811 girls, and 2,104 boys. In February 2025, as a result of the U.S. Government's funding suspension, Health Cluster partners suspended/closed approximately 200 health facilities. Health Cluster secured USD 4 million through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund (AHF) 1st Reserve Allocation 2025 to deliver emergency health assistance across 49 high-priority districts in 12 provinces. Nine proposals were recommended for funding under this allocation, including three from a national NGO, four from international NGOs, and two from a UN agency. The allocation focuses on key priorities such as the provision of primary healthcare services, provision of medical supplies, the strengthening of disease surveillance systems, health education and promotion, and capacity building for healthcare workers in detecting and managing severe cases, including referrals.
During the reporting period, the summary of outbreaks includes: 6518 cases of AWD with dehydration, 171,659 cases of ARI-Pneumonia, 8,776 cases of Measles, 26 cases of Dengue fever, 716 cases of Malaria, and 14 cases of CCHF.
In February 2025, a total of 171,659 ARI/pneumonia cases and 350 associated deaths were reported (CFR of 0.2%). This represents 16.7% decrease in reported cases compared to the previous month. Of the total cases, 112,359 (65%) were among children under five, of the reported deaths (293 deaths were among children under five years).
In the reporting month, 8,776 new suspected measles cases were reported, resulting in 69 deaths. This shows a 20.1% increase in the number of cases compared to the previous month (7,307).
In February 2025, WHO provided 1,053 emergency medical kits to 77 health facilities in 27 provinces. The medical kits will benefit around 694,600 individuals in the next three months.
