In the month of April, 50 Health Cluster partners reached 733,778 people with humanitarian health services through 832 health facilities in 289 districts of all 34 provinces.

As of April 29, 2025, a total of 409 health facilities have been suspended or closed by humanitarian partners due to the funding termination. This disruption is expected to affect approximately 3.02 million people across 29 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces. The suspended health facilities include 151 Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams (MHNTs), 153 Family Health Houses (FHHs), 21 Basic Health Centers (BHCs), 63 Sub-Health Centers (SHCs), and 21 other health facility types. It is important to note that the number of suspended or closed health facilities may vary every week depending on the availability of funding to humanitarian partners. The Health Cluster calls on donors to urgently support the reinstatement of critical healthcare services and prevent further deterioration of the health situation in Afghanistan.

During the month of April, the summary of outbreaks includes: 13,342 cases of AWD with dehydration, 128,055 cases of ARI-Pneumonia, 18,703 cases of Measles, 131 cases of Dengue fever, 2,982 cases of Malaria, and 109 cases of CCHF.

During the month of April, a total of 128,055 ARI/pneumonia cases and 260 associated deaths were reported (CFR of 0.2%). This represents 9% decrease in reported cases compared to the previous month.

During the month of April, 18,703 new suspected measles cases were reported, resulting in 111 deaths. This shows a 43.4% increase in the number of cases compared to the previous month (12,535).

During the month of April, 2,982 new suspected malaria cases were reported, with zero deaths. This shows a 73% increase in the number of cases compared to the previous month (794).

In April 2025, WHO provided 197 emergency medical kits to 36 health facilities in 16 provinces. The medical kits will benefit around 93,300 individuals in the next three months.
