- Food security situation is expected to generally remain stable throughout the country, with the exception of some isolated areas Afghanistan. Good food security situation are attributed to two consecutive good harvests (2009 & 2010) and low wheat prices, easing access and availability of the main cereal.
- Isolated food insecurity is likely to occur in eastern province of Kunar and Nangarhar due to main crop failures, poor rangeland conditions, and few local on-farm labor opportunities. Very poor, poor and middle income households are likely to be most affected.
- A poppy fungus has been detected in southern Afghanistan which will likely limit poppy production and labor opportunitie during poppy harvest. Assessment are ongoing.
