Afghanistan - Flow Monitoring Snapshot (25 - 31 May, 2025)

This snapshot encompasses data from the four main crossing points connected to Afghanistan’s National Highways (Islam Qala, Milak, Spin Boldak, and Torkham) as well as five other crossing points with the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan. The report synthesizes key findings from various IOM data sources, including DTM Afghanistan’s Flow Monitoring activity, and IOM Afghanistan’s Cross-Border Post-Arrival Humanitarian Assistance (CB-PAHA) program.

Key Figures on Inflows:

  • A total of 77,877 individuals (63% of total inflows) entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala, Milak, and Abu Nasr Farahi border crossing points with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  • A total of 45,737 individuals (37% of total inflows) entered through the Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Angor Ada, Spin Boldak, Baramcha, and Nazar Posta border crossing points with Pakistan.
  • An additional 2,168 individuals returnedto Afghanistan through Kabul International Airport from Türkiye during the month of May. The main reason for returning to Afghanistan from Türkiye was police harassment (81%).

  • A total of 17,744 individuals (38% of total outflows) left Afghanistan through the Islam Qala, Milak, and Abu Nasr Farahi border crossing points with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  • An additional 28,476 individuals (62% of total outflows) left through the Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Angor Ada, Spin Boldak, Baramcha, and Nazar Posta border crossing points with Pakistan.
