Afghanistan - Floods (media, NOAA, AMA) (ECHO Daily Flash of 15 April 2024)

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting most of Afghanistan (20 out of 34 Provinces) since 12 April, causing floods, flash floods and several heavy rain-related incidents (mainly roof collapsing) that have resulted in casualties and widespread damage. The worst affected Provinces are Kabul, Farah, Herat, Kandahar and Zabul.
  • Media report, as of 15 April, 33 fatalities, 27 injured people and approximately 1,000 affected families. In addition, media also report around 600 damaged houses (of which several destroyed).
  • Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is still forecast over most of the Country.
