Since 1 May, heavy rainfall has been affecting several provinces in Afghanistan (Kandahar, Helmand, Herat, Badakhshan, Takhar, Parwan, Kunduz, Wardak, Baghlan, Faryab and Jawzjan), causing widespread floods with significant damages.
According to initial reports from the media, at least 20 people have died and 30 others sustained injuries. A number of individuals are reported missing. More than 260 houses have been partially damaged, 19 destroyed and 100 livestock were lost.
On 5-6 May, light rainfall is forecasted for north-eastern Afghanistan.
