  • Assessments
    • Additional joint assessment led by IOM were conducted in Ghor, Faryab, Badakhshan, Herat and Badghis provinces. 800 families have been referred for assistance.
  • ESNFI
    • Northeast
      • The response in Baghlan almost concluded, with only two districts, Jelga and Khost, that remain to be assessed. Charity organizations have provided NFI airlifted by DFA for Ghuzar Gah Noor.
      • Out of 1,436 families identified for assistance in Baghlan, IOM distributed NFIs and tents to 1,106 HH. In total, partners assisted 1,423 HH with immediate relief items, food and MPCA.
      • In Takhar province, IOM distributed cash for NFI to 67 HH.
    • West
      • Following sudden floods on 17/18 May 2024 in Faryab, IOM deployed 7 teams, including female staff, from Baghlan, to the districts in Faryab province that were impacted.
  • Health
    • IOM’s mobile team assisted 1,630 individuals in Baghlan with emergency health services since their deployment last week.
    • 195 individuals received MHPSS services.
  • CCCM
    • IOM provided site planning support to 8 displacement sites in Baghlan.
    • IOM reached over 2,200 individuals, including 561 women and 83 PWDs, with demonstrations on tent pitching, information on AWAAZ, and PSEA messaging.
      • The tent setup training includes information on CCCM minimum standards and aims to guide the community to effectively organize their temporary shelters and promote the safety and well-being of all affected families.
      • Information campaigns include details about services being provided free of charge and toll-free numbers for addressing concerns, queries, suggestions, or feedback as part of the accountability to the affected population.

Access

  • Floods have destroyed a large part of the Herat-Ghor Road, making it difficult to transport relief items. IOM is using a different route from Kabul and sending non-food items and emergency shelter tents in 6 trucks that are expected to reach Ghor on Friday.
