Heavy rainfall since 24 April has caused flash floods across six provinces of the Northern Region of the country; reportedly killing 123 people and with more still missing.
Initial reports indicate that Jawzjan province is the worst affected in the region, where 80 people have reportedly been killed and some 6,000 people have been displaced.
Local authorities are leading the coordination of assessments and emergency response, with the support of humanitarian agencies. Priority needs include clean water, medical supplies, food, non-food items and shelter.
