People in Afghanistan are recovering from the war. Because of the conflicts that have plagued their country, many families suffer from malnutrition, malaria and many infectious diseases. Many mothers and children are dying from diseases that are easily treatable and preventable.
Medical Teams International, in partnership with HOPE International and the United Medical Center for Afghans / Rehabiliation Program for Afghanistan, sent 5 Interagency Emergency Health Kits. These kits, valued at more than $2 million, contain medicines and medical supplies that will help improve the health of nearly 50,000 people.
Our Commodity Support program shipped $126 million in supplies to 45 countries last year. We receive these donations from hospitals, HMOs, supply companies, clinics and pharmaceutical companies. We are a proud member of The Partnership for Quality Medical Donations alliance.
